PORTLAND, Maine — This month, Good Theater in Portland opened its 22nd Main Stage season, but it’s the first in its new home. Earlier this year, Good Theater moved into Stevens Square Theater, at the old McAuley High School complex. After a summer of renovations and smaller shows, they’re now presenting their first Main Stage show, “It Shoulda Been You.”
Good Theater co-founders Brian P. Allen and Steve Underwood joined us to talk about the show, which they say is full of Maine talent. They say nearly 200 people came out to audition for the show.
“It was the biggest turnout we’d ever had, and the talent was amazing,” says Brian P. Allen. “One of the things that’s special about Good Theater is we really focus on Maine-based talent, so everybody in the show is local.”
