The autumn weather is starting to cool down, but the local fall high school prep action remains red hot — even as numerous sports begin to reach a finale.

Cron, a freshman pitcher, stepped up big in Greeley West’s dominant 17-0 three-inning win against crosstown rival Greeley Central on Oct. 6. She faced just one batter more than the minimum, allowing no hits, while striking out six and walking two. She also hit 1 for 2 at the plate with three RBI and two runs.

De La Cruz, a senior, picked a fine time to earn the first 100-yard game of his high school career. He carried the ball 13 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns in Northridge’s 24-20 win against crosstown rival Greeley Central on Friday at
