LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - A remarkable Kansas basketball streak continued Monday with the release of the 2025-26 Preseason AP men’s basketball poll.
The Jayhawks, ranked No. 19 by voters, appeared in the poll for the 34th straight season. It’s the 48th straight time Kansas has appeared in the preseason AP poll since it began in 1962, a remarkable streak that has continued for all 23 seasons the Jayhawks have been coached by Bill Self.
Last season, the Jayhawks were ranked preseason No. 1 in the country but finished the year with their worst NCAA Tournament seeding and unranked for the first time under Self.
This year, with top freshman Darryn Peterson and a new cast of transfers, Kansas will look to outperform expectations.
