PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Four teens were taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center over the weekend after police found a loaded handgun in a car.
The teens, ages, 14, 15, 16 and 17, were booked into the detention center on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, having no FOID card and for obstructing identification, Peoria police spokeswoman Semone Roth said.
A fifth teen, whose age wasn't given by Peoria police, was released to his parents.
It wasn't clear if any of the teens were still in custody on Monday, nor was it clear if they had been formally charged over the weekend.
The teens were taken into custody late Saturday afternoon, after a traffic stop in the 1800 block of West Barker Avenue, Roth said.
