HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Senator Chris Murphy has announced he’s endorsing Congressman John Larson for re-election.

Congressman Larson has been representing Connecticut’s first district for nearly 30 years.

In a statement, Senator Murphy said:

“John has been one of my most important friends and mentors during my twenty-five years in politics...John’s optimism and will to fight for what he believes in continues to move mountains.”

He’s now being challenged by his own party.

Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, and State Representative Jillian Gillchrest are both running against him.

No further details were released.
