OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Another nuclear company is investing in East Tennessee's growing nuclear industry, with Radiant expanding its nuclear manufacturing, research and development to Oak Ridge.

The company plans to create 175 new jobs in Roane County as part of the $280 million investment. The project will support the development and mass production of Radiant’s Kaleidos. This machine aims to be the world's first one-megawatt portable nuclear generator. According to a release, it will be able to generate power in remote areas and provide resilient power options for military bases or disaster-relief scenarios.
