COULEE DAM, Wash. — An elementary school teacher in Coulee Dam was arrested in a child sex abuse sting on probable cause for the crime of alleged communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Ross Ashenfelter is a fourth-grade teacher at Lake Roosevelt Elementary School, and deputies arrested him at the school while he was doing administrative work on Monday.

The sheriff's office says the arrest resulted from ongoing investigations by detectives with the Washington task force on Internet-facilitated Crimes Against Children (ICAC).

Ashenfelter was transported to Ellensburg for booking into the Kittitas County Jail. The sheriff’s office says it has informed and is communicating with the Grand Coulee Dam School District.
