KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) - Bays Mountain Park is making plans for the return of a fan favorite animal.

"We are working on a state-of-the-art otter habitat to be constructed here at Bays Mountain Park within the next several months," said Megan Krager, park manager at Bays Mountain Park.

Otters have not been at Bays Mountain for more than four years.

Krager said architects have been working for a couple of years to design the new habitat and that Bays Mountain has reached out to staff and the public for their input.

"If you've been to the park before, the design kind of reflected the 1980s era," Krager said. "And it worked well for that time frame. However, we're looking at something a little bit more modern."

Krager said the habitat will consist of natural elements like logs and creeks
