CEDAR RAPIDS (KCRG) — A Marion teenager was sentenced to 50 years in prison Monday for his role in the 2023 shooting death of a Cedar Rapids teen, with a judge granting him immediate parole eligibility.
Baynon Berry, now 17, was one of four people charged in the February 18, 2023, murder of 16-year-old Michael McCune at the Tan Tara Apartments on F Avenue Northwest. Berry was 15 at the time of the shooting.
“I would like to say that I am truly sorry for my impulsive action that have caused all of us to be here today,” Berry said during his sentencing hearing.
