MINOT — Carbon capture and storage is central to North Dakota's prosperity going forward.

Unfortunately, the blinkered, horseshoe-shaped politics of opposition to carbon capture and carbon pipelines could end up taking the state in a different direction.

The ability to capture emissions can help keep our carbon-heavy industries — energy and agriculture — viable into the future. Our state's underlying geology is particularly salubrious to the storage of captured carbon, which is a boon not just to the carbon-emitting industry already here, but also a foundation for a new industry. Companies, like Summit Carbon Solutions, want to bring captured carbon from elsewhere and store it here, generating jobs and revenue for our state.
