Angels of Mercy to host domestic violence awareness walk Oct. 16

Angels of Mercy will be holding a special event in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Oct. 16.

Angels of Mercy is a nonprofit organization with a mission to protect, educate and empower women and girls who are facing domestic violence, human trafficking and other life-controlling issues. The group will lead a Domestic Violence Awareness stroll to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence.

Lauren VanCott, vice president of operations at Angels of Mercy, said it's important to raise awareness about the problems of domestic violence in order to prevent it from happening.

"We have friends and family who have been dramatically affected by domestic violence and it's very important to us that we let people know that there are resources and support," VanCott said.
