The Colts on Monday placed quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. on injured reserve and claimed safety Reuben Lowery off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens.

Richardson sustained a fractured orbital bone during pregame band work prior to the Colts' Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Shane Steichen said Monday Richardson will "miss some time" but didn't have a definitive timetable on when the Colts' backup quarterback could return. Richardson will be required to miss a minimum of four games while on injured reserve.

The Colts currently have two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster: Daniel Jones and 2025 sixth-round pick Riley Leonard. Steichen said general manager Chris Ballard and the Colts' football operations staff are "working through some things" with seeking a third quarter
