The last time Sigourney Weaver played any permutation of her Oscar-nominated character Ellen Ripley was 1997’s Alien: Resurrection . For all you math fans out there, that’s nearly 30 years. And yet, Ms. Weaver has remained inextricably linked to the Alien franchise ever since. Fans have wanted to see her again going toe-to-claw with xenomorphs and nearly got their wish back in 2015. Weaver was in talks to return for Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 , which would have ignored both Alien 3 and Resurrection . That production fell apart. However, hope springs again now, according to the actress herself at NYCC this past weekend.
