KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - If you struggle with taking care of car issues, whether it’s car payments or car maintenance, you aren’t alone.

A nonprofit is stepping up to help East Tennesseans in need.

Not everyone is able to get a car easily. That means some people rely on public transit. But for some families, it’s not enough.

“I’ve had to walk my kids to school several times and walk to pick them up,” Kaylie Lovell said.

Lovell is a single mom of three living in Oak Ridge. She recently had car trouble that she can’t afford, so she seeks help from family in Knoxville, but said she doesn’t like to.

“Because you’re having to intervene in other people’s lives to help them get you from Point A to Point B, you’re having to reschedule things,” Lovell said. “You’re worried about making bills
