Tampa Bay 28 (WFTS) has won a National Edward R. Murrow Award in the large-market television category of Hard News for an I-Team story.

The piece, titled Student with autism faces 30 years in prison for attack on teachers aide, was produced investigative reporter Kylie McGivern and photographer Randy Wright. The piece also won the Regional Murrow Award a couple of months ago.

The investigation began after a brutal attack on a paraprofessional by a student that was caught on video inside a Flagler County high school, which ignited a debate over what punishment a student with special needs should receive for the attack.

McGivern and Wright followed the story all the way until the end, speaking with multiple people ranging from those involved in the case
