LAYTON, Utah (ABC4) — Last week, over 37 residents were displaced from an apartment fire in Layton due to a fire. Today, one of the residents is speaking out about his experience.
Shortly before 6 a.m. on October 10, fire crews responded to the Layton Meadows Apartment buildings at 540 West and 1425 North in Layton due to a fire. At the time of the fire, over 80 residents had to evacuate.
According to Clint Drake with Layton City, the main building that was affected is a total loss, and 37 residents have been fully displaced. Additionally, four police officers and one resident were treated for smoke inhalation.
Tanner Jex was one of those residents and was sleeping at home when the fire started.
According to Jex, he was woken up by someone banging on his and others' doors around 5 a.m.
