1STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ – Rapidly rising tides have left several roads underwater in Stafford Township, prompting police to close multiple routes and urge residents to avoid flooded areas.
Authorities said floodwaters surged quickly around the 4:30 p.m. high tide, making some streets impassable within minutes.
The Stafford Township Police Department, working with the Office of Emergency Management, said crews are monitoring the ongoing storm as conditions remain hazardous.
Officials stressed that barricades have been placed for public safety and warned residents not to attempt driving around them.
Standing water has made several areas dangerous, with police reminding drivers that it only takes a small amount of water to disable a vehicle or sweep it off the roadway.
