PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Ryan Miller will captain the Portland Winterhawks during their 50th anniversary season in 2025-26 season, the team announced Monday.

The 18-year-old Canadian from Medicine Hat, Alberta is entering his third season with the team, and served as an alternate captain last season.

Miller appeared in 50 games for the Hawks in 2024-25, logging a career-high 16 goals and 15 assists. Through eight games in 2025-26, Miller has two goals and six assists.

He was a fifth-round selection by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Carter Sothern, Alex Weiermair, and Tyson Yaremko will serve as alternate captains this season, the team also announced.

The Winterhawks are 4-4 through eight games this season, and face the Edmonton Oil Kings north of the border on Wednesday.
