PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Authorities in Salem are searching for the owners of a pig found inside an elementary school.

Just after 1 a.m. Friday, patrol officers with Salem Police Department “made an unexpected new friend,” the department said in an "Oink alert" Facebook post.

That night, officers were called to Hammond Elementary School, where a custodian reported finding a pig inside, SPD told KOIN 6 News on Monday.
