OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - A child’s birthday money is helping enrich the lives of shelter dogs in Oshkosh.
Several dogs from the city’s humane society are now enrolled in swim lessons, thanks to her $140 donation.
The Oshkosh Area Humane Society attached a photo of the money in a post made to Facebook, along with some notes, which read, “This is so each dog can go swimming once. This is what I wanted for my birthday.”
Because she chose to donate that money, the shelter says it’s now able to send Rufus, Steve, Smokey, and Dozer to The Doggie Paddle, the city’s largest indoor swimming facility for dogs.
“While we’re trying to keep them happy and calm and give them enrichment, it’s not always possible at a setting like a shelter. So going to a swimming pool where they can release that energy
