The three-day event features 18 open gardens, 120 stalls and an expected 6200 visitors.

"We've gone from strength to strength since the festival's inauguration two years ago, now we're calling for more volunteers," festival secretary and publicity officer, Kathryn Hogan, said.

New England Garden Festival kicks off on Thursday, October 30, with the garden trail starting in Tenterfield.

Visitors can inspect four open gardens there, before driving south to Glen Innes, where another four gardens will be featured on Friday.
