Officials are forecasting sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts exceeding 40 mph. Blowing dust is expected from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., prompting air quality officials to urge residents to take precautions.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should consider staying indoors during the windstorm, as they face greater health risks from airborne particulate matter, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Particulate matter, or PM, can aggravate respiratory diseases, especially during physical activity.
