Missoula author Sneed Collard III will talk about his latest book, "Birding for Boomers — And Everyone Else Brave Enough to Embrace the World’s Most Rewarding and Frustrating Activity," at the Yellowstone Valley Audubon Society's meeting on Oct. 20.
Educated as a marine biologist, Collard has written more than 100 books for children and adults, including an account of birding with his son, "Warblers and Woodpeckers: A Father-Son Big Year of Birding."
His fascination with birds took flight when he began writing "Fire Birds: Valuing Natural Wildfires and Burned Forests," and he and his 11-year-old son Braden began looking for birds and trying to figure out what they were.
