RICHMOND — A Richmond man will serve 18 years in prison after good samaritans called in for a highway shootout on I-64.

State and Henrico police arrested Jerrell Anthony Hill on Nov. 25, 2024, after he was seen shooting into another vehicle, prosecutors said.

Both drivers were driving aggressively, according to a news release from Commonwealth's Attorney Colette McEachin, but Hill, 28, appeared to have escalated the situation by shooting five bullets into the other vehicle, causing it to crash and hospitalizing the other driver for months.

Hill initially requested a jury trial, but according to McEachin, he abandoned that strategy for a plea on the first day of his trial. On Oct 2, Hill pleaded guilty to an aggravated malicious wounding and a related gun charge. He'll serve 18 years in
