ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The BioPark found a new way to spend Indigenous Peoples' Day with a combination and animals, education and celebration.

"A lot of our animals here are significant to the indigenous tribes around North America and South America," said Tifani-Rae Brigs, guest experience administrator for the Albuquerque Parks and Education Department. "I want the guests to go away with learning more about the different tribes, and that representation really does matter, showing that we can still honor our ancestors and traditions."

There were discovery stations and craft tables to peruse, and a buffalo dance performance by a group led by Acoma Pueblo members.
