MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (KFVS) - In Jackson County, Illinois, the city of Murphysboro is moving forward with some key infrastructure projects that have been years in the making.

Mayor Will Stephens said thanks to grant funding, these projects are still on the road to reality.

The Sanitary Sewer Repair and Replacement IEPA Loan Project funding nomination has been submitted to IEPA for the replacement of sewers at the 15th St. and Poplar intersection.

The project report has been prepared and submitted, and plans will be developed to obtain an IEPA Construction Permit.

Mayor Stephens said that funding for this project is anticipated to be available after July 1, 2026.
