This isn’t an actual obituary after a holiday weekend gone foul for the Blue Jays. It just feels like it.

The reasons are many that this plucky team has been so easy for a fan base to embrace from start to finish in an inspiring 2025 season.

They play hard. They’re not easily rattled. And they have shown a remarkable resilience in a last-to-first season to re-energize a coast-to-coast following that has been smitten with what it has accomplished.

But after what turned out to be a non-competitive 10-3 drubbing by the Seattle Mariners on a spoiled Thanksgiving Monday at the Rogers Centre, it is now desperation time.

And with it, the biggest test yet for a team that is in the midst of squandering what undeniably felt like an enormous opportunity this October.
