The Richmond Hill softball team struggled defensively in its playoff opener with visiting Mill Creek on Monday as the team committed eight errors, but the Wildcat offense came to the rescue by banging out 18 hits as Richmond Hill prevailed to win the first game 9-8 in the best of three series.

The Wildcats settled down behind senior starter Adriana Williams in the second game and their bats remained red hot en route to a 10-2 victory as Richmond Hill swept the series to advance to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.
