The second Monday in October marks Indigenous Peoples' Day in Alaska, and this year, the celebration was held inside the Moseley Sports Center at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage.

Alaska Natives shared songs and performances to honor their history and the ways they’ve shaped the state.

“They are celebrated as a people, but they also have this opportunity to just share their beautiful culture with those of us who are transplants and just for all of us to recognize that contribution to our state and to honor them,” said Janelle Vanasse, Alaska Pacific University president.

Vendors were on hand, offering handmade items like jewelry and hats, while guests enjoyed a buffet featuring traditional foods, including soup and fish head, in celebration of the day.
