LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — Myrick Park and The Nature Place hosted several events to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, offering the community a chance to engage with and learn about Indigenous cultures.
The celebration kicked off with a proclamation from La Crosse’s Mayor, Shaundel Washington-Spivey, recognizing the significance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
Follo wing the proclamation, Ho-Chunk Nation President Jon Greendeer spoke on the importance of celebrating and remembering Indigenous history, especially the truth behind it.
