As a full-time working mother in Glenwood Springs, I am currently living the child care crisis. I spent 2.5 years on a waiting list before securing a day care spot. When returning from maternity leave, I had no options — I had to beg my manager’s daughter to watch my baby so I could return to work. I have missed work multiple times because our day care was closed due to staffing shortages. And I know I am not alone; families across our region are facing the same issues.
