HEIDELBERG, Miss. (WDAM) - Crime scene tape is still up three days after a deadly shooting turned Heidelberg High School’s homecoming into a nightmare.
“I’ve been literally sick to my stomach since Friday,” said Catina Turner, parent/HHS alumnae.
Turner was tailgating while her daughter was on the football field with the band.
Then, in an instant, gunfire sent the crowd into a frenzy.
“They were just saying people dying, dropping on the ground, people dead,” Turner said.
Two people were shot and died on the scene.
Jasper County Deputy Coroner Jesse Crosby identified them as Christopher Newell, 35, and Mikeia McCray, 28.
“That child (Mikeia) out there laying down,” Turner said. “She got four babies.”
