Pompey, N.Y. – More than 350 people attended a Monday night candlelight vigil in Pompey in honor of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Despite the soggy weather, supporters flocked to the Heritage Hill Brewhouse for more than three hours of speeches, prayers, singing and tribute videos to Kirk, 31, who was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

Most people waved mini American flags that were handed out. Many people wore merchandise for Turning Point USA, a conservative group Kirk founded. Others wore black in honor of Kirk.

Attendees belted out religious songs and bowed their heads in prayer during the vigil.

Several speakers cried at the podium as they hailed a man who they praised for fighting for his faith, his nation, his family and free speech.
