A new development bringing 101 units of affordable housing to the Billings Heights got a $1.4 million shot in the arm from the city Monday night.
LB Lofts, going up at Sioux Lane and Twin Oaks Drive near Skyview High School, is a $25 million joint project sponsored by Homeward and HomeFront, the Housing Authority of Billings. Each apartment will be a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit available to those who apply and meet affordable housing income requirements.
Currently, HomeFront has a waiting list of 8,000 applicants who have qualified for affordable housing across the city.
"We just hast have a significant need for these apartments," said Dan Brooks, vice president of business advocacy for the Billings Chamber of Commerce.
