For a former number one overall pick in the NBA, Deandre Ayton hasn’t truly lived up to expectations. While he has been a decent big man for most of the teams he has played in, they were all left wanting more production from him. After all, Ayton has all the physical tools in order to succeed in the league.
However, across seven seasons, Ayton seems content with just averaging double-doubles nightly. His points and rebounds averages have remained largely unchanged. Lakers fans were excited about his preseason debut, though. Curiously, despite standing at a towering 7 feet tall, Ayton’s defense needs some additional work.
