A gangster's wife has been banned from commercially breeding dogs after an intervention by animal welfare watchdogs. ‌

Lynne Brockett was refused a breeder licence after representations by the Scottish SPCA deemed her and drug dealer husband Scott Bennett unfit to deal in puppies. ‌

The animal watchdogs were alerted after being told by South Lanarkshire Council they were set to renew an existing licence – despite both being convicted of illegal procedures on dogs. ‌

The ban on Brockett, 40, comes after the couple built an industrial scale kennels block, which received retrospective planning permission despite complaints from locals in Chapelton, near Strathaven .
