MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Janesville public school teachers gathered Monday night, rallying for more competitive wages.
Janesville Education Association (JEA) hosted the protest, where teachers and community members held signs and chanted along Milton Ave.
They said that although a recent school board meeting approved a salary raise, it was equivalent to the backpay from extra professional development teachers completed last year.
Many veteran teachers in the Janesville School District are concerned that even after dedicating their lives to education, staying in the classroom might not be sustainable.
