BEAUMONT, Texas — Tenants at The Crossing Apartments in Beaumont are breathing easier, and keeping cool, thanks to a new partnership between Entergy and the Beaumont Housing Authority.

Nearly 150 residents at the complex recently received brand-new air conditioning units, paid for through Entergy’s Energy Efficiency Program. The upgrade replaces aging systems that often needed repairs, and residents say the change has made a major difference.

“I have COPD, I have chronic sinusitis and asthma. Also, I have a heart murmur, so I have to keep it a certain kind of coolness in the house,” said resident Trudy Mason. “Sometimes the old ones would freeze on us. It’s smooth, it’s quiet, and we’re comfortable in our apartments.”
