UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Pembroke native Rob Cole advanced to the knockout rounds on “The Voice,” the singing competition show on NBC, after winning in the battles round during Monday’s episode.
Cole won his battle against Austin Gilbert of Eugene, Oregon after the pair performed a duet of “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton.
The battles round pits teammates against each other as they perform alongside each other. Cole and Gilbert were both picked during blind auditions for Michael Bublé’s team. Kelsea Ballerini, previously a coach on the show, was an advisor for Team Bublé for the Battles round.
Performers got to pick their own partner for the Battles round, and there was clear chemistry between Cole and Gilbert.
“Austin is a lover of good ole ’90s vibe country music,” Cole said on the show.
