COURTLAND, Va. (WAVY) -- Community members called for a leadership change as the Southampton County School Board met Monday for the first time since the findings of an investigation into the school division showing severe financial mismanagement were made public.

Many called for the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Gwendolyn Shannon, while others called for the School Board Chairwoman, Dr. Deborah Goodwyn, to resign, also.

"Dr. Goodwyn and Dr. Shannon, I call for the resignation," one woman said. "You are not fit to lead Southampton Public Schools."

Earlier this month, the Southampton County Board of Supervisors held a special-called meeting to hear the findings of an independent investigation into Southampton County Public Schools.
