Udupi, Oct 14: Even as the massive socio-economic and educational survey by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes nears its deadline, Udupi taluk is struggling to keep up, with just 74.36% of households covered—the lowest in the district. In contrast, the district as a whole has achieved 87.93% survey completion, closely trailing the state average of 90.23%.

The comprehensive survey—aimed at collecting crucial data on the social, economic, and educational status of communities—is scheduled to conclude on October 18. In Udupi district, out of a total target of 3,62,093 households, enumeration has been completed in 2,54,463 households as of Monday evening. Surveyors covered 2,786 homes across all seven taluks on the day.
