A mum tragically lost her life during a motorcycle ride with her partner when a careless driver pulled out in front of them on the A1.

Marion Cunningham and Roy Dickson, who had recently passed their motorbike tests, were returning home from a trip to Cresswell, Northumberland, when tragedy struck.

Newcastle Crown Court was told that around 1.52pm on July 13, Miss Cunningham was riding a 125cc motorcycle, with her long-term partner Mr Dickson following on a similar bike. As they neared the junction with the B6341, Bader Alfarsi, a civil servant from the United Arab Emirates, who was holidaying here with his wife and daughter, was driving south towards Alnwick in a Volvo SC90.
