A much-loved Edinburgh mum was killed enjoying a motorcycle ride with her partner when a careless driver pulled out in front of them on the A1.

Marion Cunningham and Roy Dickson had recently passed their tests to ride scooters and were heading home after a trip to Cresswell, in Northumberland, when tragedy struck.

Newcastle Crown Court heard it was around 1.52pm on July 13, 2025, that Miss Cunningham was on a 125 motorcycle, with long-term partner Mr Dickson, behind her on a similar bike. As they approached the junction with the B6341, Bader Alfarsi, a civil servant from the United Arab Emirates who was on holiday here with his wife and daughter, was heading south toward Alnwick in a Volvo SC90.
