New Delhi: A warning has been released by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on three cough syrups in India – Coldrif, Respifresh TR, and ReLife, after the questions were raised over syrups being contaminated that harmed children. The WHO has asked countries to report immediately if these medicines are found in their markets.

These contaminated syrups were sparked controversy after 22 children under the age of five died in Madhya Pradesh, due to suspected kidney failure after consuming Coldrif syrup. A similar incident was reported in Rajasthan where three children died after consuming other cough syrups.

Doctors and healthcare workers should inform their authorities if anyone has a bad reaction or the medicine doesn’t work as expected, asked WHO. This issue has alarmed the authorit
