Less than 24 hours after firing James Franklin , athletic director Pat Kraft stepped up to a Beaver Stadium podium and explained what he wanted in Penn State ’s next head coach.

Maybe it’s because it was there already. But one name — one obvious coaching candidate — popped in my head as Kraft rattled off what he was looking for in Franklin’s replacement.
