POWELL, Tenn. — Rural Metro Fire said a home in Powell was heavily damaged after a car crashed into it Monday night.

Rural Metro Public Information Officer Jeff Bagwell said crews responded to a home on Fieldstone Farm Lane at Meredith Road at 11 p.m. Crews found heavy damage to the home, and it was structurally unsafe, Bagwell said.

"When we first got here, we were almost stunned at what we saw," Bagwell said. "At the level of destruction, only to find out that the occupants in the car were out of the car."

Photographs from the scene show the car crashed into the back of the home. The side of the home where the car crashed appears to have collapsed.
