Progress is being made on expanding the district energy network to include more Coventry University buildings. Work on the major project started in August.

Eleven Coventry University buildings will join the network by mid-2026. Heat from the Bar Road incinerator is transported through a 6.6km underground network to produce energy with just a quarter of the carbon emissions of natural gas.

On Monday, October 20, the second phase of the project will begin on Jordan Well between the junctions with Much Park Street and Cox Street, running alongside the Richard Crossman building. Temporary traffic lights and some fencing on pathways will be in place until the end of November.
