NORTH CANTON − City Council thanked first responders for their heroism in rescuing a woman who was shot and apprehending a suspect who was shooting blindly in an apartment building last week.
"These men and women, they choose to do a job where they run towards the bullets. And they run into burning houses," council member Jeff Peters said during council's regular meeting Oct. 13. "I'm in awe of what they did, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
First responders briefed council on the shooting, which took place Oct. 10 at the Versailles Gardens Apartments. Police Maj. Matthew Buzzard told council members the department plans to honor the four first responders who rescued the victim — officers Adam Knam and Mike Foltz, Sgt. Cody Dollinger and city paramedic Eli Bosler.
