CHICAGO — A Chicago man accused of fatally shooting another man during an argument on the city’s Southwest Side over the weekend is now facing a felony charge.

According to Chicago police, 26-year-old Maynor Vasquez Gomez, a Hegewisch resident, has been charged with one felony count of first-degree murder.

Authorities said the charge stems from a deadly shooting that unfolded around 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the backyard of a residence in the 6400 block of South Fairfield Avenue in Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side.

An initial investigation indicated that Gomez allegedly got into an argument with the victim, a 23-year-old man. The argument eventually became physical, police say, when the 26-year-old man pulled out a gun and allegedly shot the victim in the chest.
