Volvo Cars is marking its 70th anniversary and platinum jubilee this year with a foray into the fashion lane that has South Carolina written all over it.

The automaker has tapped Ridgeway-born designer Sergio Hudson to come up with a tailored wool-blend coat and a belt crafted from the same textiles used in the passenger cabin of the all-electric EX90 sport utility vehicle it builds in Ridgeville.

“These fabrics showcase how luxury and more sustainable materials can work hand in hand,” Volvo said.

The limited-edition, made-to-order collection goes on sale Oct. 20. The suggested retail prices are $1,895 for the coat and $225 for the belt, which comes with a platinum buckle.
